Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British performer, songwriter also known as actress, and activist. She was raised in the London Borough of Islington and went to the Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis received national recognition after she was crowned the winner of the third series of The X Factor in 2006 which resulted in an PS1 million recording deal with Syco Music. The winner's song, the cover version of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" reached the top spot for four weeks on UK Singles Chart and broke the world record for 100,000 digital downloads within just thirty minutes. Clive Davis's label, J Records, signed Lewis to a 5-album deal within the United States. Lewis kept her momentum going by releasing Spirit, her first studio album. It sold 10x platinum certified in the UK. Spirit became the fourth album to be sold in the 2000, and was also one of the most popular UK albums. The Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the best-selling 21st century album for a debut female. The lead single, "Bleeding Love", went on to chart for seven weeks in the UK. top in UK and was the highest-priced single in 2007. In the US It was the most-seller single of 2008 , and Lewis was named the Best New Artist by Billboard the same year. Echo is her second studio album. The album also featured the song "I Have You in My Eyes" in the movie Avatar. Lewis's hit single "Collide," was made in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and she also released Hurt The EP, her first long-form play. Glassheart (2012) is Lewis' three studio albums. It marked Lewis' first venture into electronic music and dubstep. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she began recording songs to her Christmas debut album. Christmas, With Love came out later that year. The album's first single, "One More Sleep" came in at the third position in the UK. By releasing this chart entry Lewis became the first British single female to break into the top five spot with eight singles. She beat Olivia Newton-John's record which was seven.
